  1. My fondest memory of my mum was to find her waiting at the end of the driveway of my high school to drive me home on a wet day. I remember feeling how lucky I was she was so thoughtful.

  2. So many memories … but this is one that sticks in my mind. We were travelling in Europe together and had just arrived at a station where we left the train. In the arrivals hall, my mother realised that she had left her passport and money belt in the train’s toilet! Yikes!!! I said “Don’t leave” and ran back to the train like a sprinter. I thought I’d jump on the train even if it was leaving and eventually get back to her. But I was able to get the treasured items and get back off the train before it left. Much happiness ensued, as you can imagine. She made me promise never to tell my father … and I never did.

  3. Walking to Orokawa Bay every school hols to cook sausages on the beach on a metal sheet we had hidden there and spending hours pottering and exploring.
