How far would you go to save everything you love? Orpheus is struggling after the loss of his wife Eurydice, and appeals to the gods to let him rescue her from the underworld. They agree but with a complicated condition attached. This dance-opera collision combines the rich storytelling traditions of the Pacific with themes from Greek tragedies.

SYNTHONY: IN THE BEGINNING

15-16 September
Auckland Town Hall

Synthony is bringing it back to where it all started six years ago with this comparatively intimate show. Squeezing their festival-level set-up into the Town Hall for an epic and nostalgic night. Picture a 60-piece orchestra, DJs, vocalists and an incredible light show working together in exhilarating ‘synthony’ to play the biggest dance albums.

TOY STORY IN CONCERT

Patricia Highsmith, the author of The Talented Mr Ripley, usually writes psychological thrillers, now she’s living one. In the midst of enjoying her reclusive and enigmatic life in retirement, a shadowy publisher tracks Highsmith down, thus setting the premise for this wittily meta match of creative cat and mouse.
