Literacy is the first and single greatest skill we expect our education system to deliver and yet, so many in our modern age once past their formal educations, largely give up on reading beyond the essential mechanics of life. And this is despite the fact that most recognise they really should read more. And they would be right, for as Mark Twain so eloquently put it, “those who do not read have no advantage over those who cannot read”.
