Wine columnist and connoisseur DENNIS KNILL gives his views on Indevin’s new release of Villa Maria wines.
The Indevin Group is one of New Zealand’s leading producers and exporters of fine wines. From its conception twenty years ago their vision to be one of the world’s great wine companies is on track. Growing their consumer brand portfolio and taking their recent acquisition of Villa Maria to a new level are both core business strategies.
Villa Maria needs no introduction. Named the 20th most admired wine brand in the world Villa Maria is also one of our most successful wineries locally and on the world stage. Founded by George Fistonich in 1961, George is renowned for his achievements as a winemaker, an ambassador and for pushing the boundaries with numerous award-winning wines here and abroad.
Earlier this year Indevin released their flagship of sauvignon blancs under the Villa Maria fine wines label. The wines are from single vineyards and positioned as the pinnacle of an extensive portfolio of the best that New Zealand can produce. Not to be overlooked is their Ngakirikiri cabernet sauvignon a strong contender as one of our best reds.
If you’re looking for more variety this new wave of wines has something for everyone.
