Set in the rapidly expanding North Shore hub of Smales Farm, Goodside has it all – a delicious deli that is a food lovers’ haven, bagels that will make you say ‘goodness’, Asian fusion delivering Thai infused exoticness, sushi that is a tasty work of art, a craft brew house for beer aficionados, a modern European restaurant and bar offering a relaxed and welcoming environment, and a disruptive new burger brand that will be an NZ first.
Goodside is a melting pot of food and beverage culture, set in an environment that’s home to live music, DJs, pop up eateries, outdoor fireplaces, greenhouses, private dining areas and carefully crafted events that bring new energy to Auckland’s dining scene.
“Goodside is something never seen before on the North Shore: a beautiful and exciting destination that is home to some of Auckland’s best food and beverage artisans,” says Smales Farm Chief Executive Paul Gunn.
“We’re excited to have brought on board some of the best boutique hospitality operators in Auckland. They saw Goodside as a perfect opportunity to expand their footprint in Auckland, with many of them coming north of the bridge for the first time. I have no doubt they’ll make Goodside one of the best hospitality destinations in Auckland.”
It’s also one of Auckland’s most accessible dining destinations, with plenty of parking (completely free after 5pm), easy motorway and bus access, and an easy 10-minute journey from the city.
Goodside opens to the public on December 1 and is located behind the B:HIVE at Smales Farm, 72 Taharoto Road, Takapuna.

Fantail & Turtle
Boasts craft beer, cider and kombucha flowing from 30 taps, a community brewery, 50 wines, an extensive gin selection enhanced with botanics fresh from Goodside’s greenhouse, single malts to enjoy around the fire, and a range of classic cocktails to sip in the lounge – plus a modern sharing menu.
The Grange
Is a new European restaurant and bar, offering delicious food alongside local and international beverages in a relaxed and welcoming environment.
Shake Out
Is a brand new burger concept serving up a highly addictive menu of burgers, sides, shakes and sundaes – fast. You’ll get a premium, grab-and-go burger experience, where quality ingredients have been chosen with care to craft fresh, deliciously fast food with your cravings in mind.
Soho
Takes the art of traditional Thai cooking and gives it a modern twist. Priding themselves on preparing food from scratch, Soho creates dishes full of flavour and freshness, as well as their centre-stage rotisserie, roasting the finest local chicken, duck, wagyu beef and kurobuta pork.
Ripe Deli
Is an Auckland institution, with its incredible and innovative salads, free range meats, hot dishes, delectable quiches, savouries and of course their salivating sweet treats.
