In keeping with the inspirational women thread in Verve’s May edition, this month’s books celebrate some of the inspirational female authors about to visit our shores for the Auckland Writers Festival Waituhi O Tāmaki (16-21 May).
The NZ Booklovers Awards is now in its fifth year of celebrating the best of New Zealand books, and here are some of the shortlisted books in the Fiction Category, where the judges were looking for the best in storytelling, a novel they couldn't put down!
One upside to the wet summer we’re having this year is a chance to dive into some great new books. This month we have a compelling New Zealand memoir about foraging and living off the land, a reimagining of David Copperfield set in Southern Appalachia, and a colourful history of the Roman roads in Britain.
