Verve sits down with Tuesday Skin founder Zoë Wilde to learn about how she’s shaking up the beauty industry from within.
Tell us about Tuesday Skin?
I’m a new-age injector with a badass attitude, smashing old-school stigmas around cosmetic enhancements and advocating self-love, self-expression, and confidence! I genuinely believe someone’s appearance influences how they feel about themselves, and you’re kidding yourself if you don’t think that. We have clinics in Mangonui and Kerikeri, and we provide cosmetic injectables and advanced skin therapies, and stock Dermaviduals, a corneotherapeutic skincare range with high-strength actives.
What sets you apart in the beauty industry?
Our brand! Beauty brands are usually calm and pretty, and we are the opposite of that. Tuesday Skin is full of life: we encourage bad behaviour, we’re in your face, and we’re loud! The inspiration behind our brand is to really celebrate and empower women with a confident ‘zero f***s’ attitude, to be who they are, and to do what they love unapologetically. Our mantra is “helping baddies feel their best”, so if you don’t leave our studio, scroll through our page, or engage with us feeling anything less than your absolute best, then we’re doing something wrong.
What are the current trends in the beauty industry?
As an injector, filler has its place, but overfilling is out – and has been for a while. Instead, people are seeking biostimulators such as RADIESSE® to encourage their body’s own natural collagen and elastin.
Something that’s been coming up time and time again is people coming to me for Botox and filler to look younger, when what they really need is to improve the quality of their skin, especially here in NZ, where sun damage is so prevalent.
This is where the Sciton technology comes in, specifically their Broadband light (BBL) and Moxi laser which literally reverses ageing. Treating the pigment and reds within the skin is leaving clients looking clearer, brighter and healthier. It’s a treatment people didn’t know that they needed, revolutionarily changing the gene expression with complete bio-remodelling of the skin cells.
When I opened my skin clinic in Northland, my goal was to raise the calibre of what’s offered and offer nothing but the best of the best, and that’s where BBL and Moxi enter the scene; we’re lucky to be the first clinic north of Auckland to have this world-class treatment available.
