A mere moment from the shoreline, surrounded by the Atlantic on three sides, this extraordinary beach house defies expectations. Set in a dream location to while away lazy Cape days.
Automated shutters rise up to a 90-degree angle to reveal the ‘front door’ of the house, your eye taken straight through the house to the magnificent views beyond. The materials used for the project complement the surrounding natural beauty.
The courtyard and the design of the barbecue are in line with the minimalist spirit of the house.
The kitchen. There are no plugs, sockets or switches visible in the house; they are all tucked away behind touch-press cabinetry.
Looking across the ‘main bedroom’ with the glass doors folded back on both sides. The Atlantic surf crashes on the nearby rocks.
The automated shutters rise up to a 90-degree angle to provide shade along the deck. When closed they are ideal security measures as the glass doors can remain ope
Lying in bed, with all the glass doors open, looking out the front of the house, across the beach towards the surf break.
The bathrooms are automated and run off a specific keypad: there are no taps or light switches and there are automatic lights for the toilet.
The owner was inspired by Japanese design for the minimal approach to the interiors. It’s a house that adapts to your holiday needs and your guest list. At its most simple, the interiors can be one large open-plan space while specially designed sliding doors can create four bedrooms in total, all with their own bathrooms.
The décor focuses on comfort and simplicity, with marshmallowy daybeds that you can sink into while contemplating the view.
The deck is a dreamy place to lie back and soak up the in-your-face grandeur of the exceptional beauty that surrounds you.
