Q&A with Anthony Bayer

Anthony has been in the Hair industry for over a decade. Verve sat down with him for a chat about creative growth, and what it is like to own a Salon.

You’ve been in the industry for over one decade – growing up was working in the hair and beauty industry always your dream career?

Since I was about 14 years old I knew it was what I wanted to do,  after working in a Salon after school.

How does owning and running your own salon compare to working for Fashion Weeks and Hair Shows?

It is a completely different vibe for me doing shows. Especially if it’s a big show, it’s always so much fun backstage. You mostly have a small window to get it done though so you really need to be in the zone.

Working and running a Salon environment can have the same busy vibe and time limits, however there are so many different aspects. You’re not just creating one or a few looks for a collection, things are moving differently every single day in a Salon.

What has been your favourite/most rewarding experience so far working on an Editorial Shoot or Runway Show?

Probably most recently being the director for the Stolen Girlfriends Club show and working on their Campaigns. I was also lucky to do the hair for Benee’s Snail music Video and earlier in my career, I was invited to work backstage at London Fashion week in 2014.

And your favourite experience/most rewarding owning a salon?

Being my own boss and winning the biggest awards in my career under the Salon name. I finally won Trend Vision Colour Artist in 2019 – I had a Bronze and Silver and it took 7 years to finally get the Gold! I have two staff members now and I love seeing them grow and succeed.

You’ve won numerous awards, for a wide range of skills within the profession. What do you attribute your well-rounded success too?

I have great family and friends that always support me! My mum comes to every awards of competition photoshoot so I’m very lucky. I’m also always researching new ideas and educating myself to keep growing creatively.
