The days are slowly getting longer as spring creeps into the garden, and seedlings begin to take off again as mid to late August comes around. There is much to do to prepare your garden for spring!
Veggies
Now is the perfect time to prepare your garden beds for spring and summer. Dig in green crops and start weeding beds to ensure you’re ready to plant this spring. Start sowing spring seeds into seed-raising mix, including peas, beans, lettuce, celery and broccoli. From mid-August, start feeding your established veggies with Kings Organic Vegetable Fertiliser.
Flowers and Perennials
Early spring bulbs should be flowering soon. Bring spring to your family and friends by gifting them cut flowers from your blooming garden! Plant summer bulbs now and enjoy a beautiful splash of colour in your garden once summer arrives. Deadhead old flowers as they fade to encourage growth of new buds.
Indoor Plants
If your indoor plants have been stretching towards the light, turn them slightly each week to correct the lean. Start repotting indoor plants later in the month. Most indoor plants do not see much growth in the colder months, so repotting when it’s warmer ensures your plants have a more comfortable environment to get settled into their new pot. We recommend repotting into Kings House Plant Mix as new soil provides new nutrients and new opportunities for your plant to grow well.
