Milan Mrkusich ONZM | ArtSelect Gallery

Milan Mrkusich is considered a pioneer of abstract painting in New Zealand and one of New Zealand’s most important artists.

Born in Dargaville in 1925 and was one of New Zealand’s oldest living artists before he died in 2018 at the age of 93.

Mrkusich is considered alongside Don Peebles, Gordon Walters, Colin McCahon and Ralph Hotere, as one of New Zealand’s great modern artists.

Mrkusich’s contribution to New Zealand art was acknowledged when he was made an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit in 1997.

ArtSelect Gallery is privileged to offer works of art for sale in this upcoming exhibition of works painted by the artist between 1992 and 1997.

We do not expect another exhibition of this scale to be presented for public display in the future so all discerning collectors, both new and established, should avail themselves of this opportunity to see some of the influences that led to many of the works produced by Milan Mrkusich over the years.

The exhibition opens on Tuesday 24th August between 6pm and 8pm.
