While we’re all stuck at home, it’s important to make sure our living spaces are as comfortable as we can make them – and why not take this opportunity to spruce them up a little. We’ve put together some of our favourite DIY home decor projects that are sure to impress.
STAR MIRROR
This mirror not only looks great, but it’s also super simple to make and won’t take much time to put together. You can also make this fit into your own decor by changing up the string colour to fit the theme of your room.
Things you’ll need:
- 1 spool of twine
- A round mirror
- Painter’s tape
- Nails

Twine Lanterns
These lanterns are a perfect way to add ambience to your outdoor areas to light a pathway, or to hang in any room to add a touch of rustic decor. If you have hanging lightbulbs in your home already, these are a great lampshade idea, or fill them with fairy lights for a standalone light.
Things you’ll need:
- Balloons blown up to whatever size you would like your lantern. You can also use a beach ball if you’re wanting extra large lanterns.
- Plastic table cloth
- Scissors
- String or twine (make sure this is strong enough to withstand being wet without tearing)
- PVA glue
- Cornstarch
- Warm Water
- Petroleum Jelly
- Spray paint
- Fairy lights

Washi Wallpaper
Add a little decor to your walls using washi tape to create a funky new look. This is great for kids bedrooms or to create accent walls around the home. You can create whatever patterns you like!
