Facetiming in from an unknown corner of the metaverse, we managed to get an exclusive interview with the ever-elusive and overly expressive MEOWthew of the Secret Cat Cafe NFT.
The project is launching exclusively via Dropspace, but Verve managed to get a sneak peek at what the project is all about – a group of digital cats launching an exclusive crypto-inspired coffee brand. Confused?
Hi MEOWthew, who are you exactly, and what is an NFT?
NFTs are basically the future, but don’t take my word for it. Have you heard of the artist Beeple selling one to the tune of US$60 million? That’ll get your pretty paws tapping a few keys on your fave search engine real quick. Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) are a piece of digital content linked to a blockchain, each unique and individual in its own way, and not interchangeable.
As for me, I’m part of an exclusive GENESIS range of 2,888 NFTs being launched via Dropspace, one of the world’s premium NFT development and collection houses.

Meow right back! So, apparently you’re part of the Secret Cat Cafe? Why secret and what does it have to do with caffeine?
Shhhh… not too loud! The rotties are listening – we can’t, I repeat we CANNOT let them know about our plan! Those paper-handed fools are going to lose their bananas and come after our coffee beans if they find out what we have planned.
Listen, we’re doing a lot of crazy hours in the crypto space, watching the floor, aping in, serving our community of ‘Cat Fiends’ and building a brand that we can truly be proud of. That takes a lot of energy, focus and of course good coffee!
Plus, we want to offer something innovative, premium and highly rewarding for our holders. We know how to build brands, we love NFTs and love good coffee. Simple as a cat’s dimple.
Okay, slightly awkward but understandable… what’s one of your favourite NFT collections currently?
You have to check out Time magazine’s ‘Long Neckie Ladies’ created by 12-year-old artist Nyla Hayes. It’s an homage to the magazine’s top 100 women of the century whimsically captured and reimagined with long necks – literally. We love this range because it not only champions changemakers of the last century, but also shows how NFTs are giving artists around the world, like Nyla, the opportunity to share their incredible work.
We LOVE the colours and art. What inspired the Secret Cat Cafe?
Easy! We love the ‘90s! The music, culture, entertainment. It was truly the last GREAT decade before the digital world, duck selfies and social media took over.
Think pastel-coloured digital Pu$$es that are going to look incredible on your wall, as a screensaver, and in your OpenSea wallet.
Most importantly, we’re all about our community, creating value and becoming a standout collection that even your mum will love!
We love that! So basically, you’re building a community of ‘90s music lovers that also happen to love art, cute cats, coffee and rottweilers?
NOOOO! Not rotties nope, nope, nope! They are not to be loved, you can collect them but don’t love their cute floofy faces, puppy eyes and cuddly chub chubs. They are not to be underestimated, they are literally the greediest beings in the metaverse, stealing our attention and more importantly our COFFEE.

None taken. I can be a Cheekypu$$ sometimes – I was just pulling your paw. I got you! YouTube is a great place to start and there’s a lot of information out there but we also recommend having a look at places like OpenSea and Twitter to get a feel for the market and what the space is all about.
