Coffee is the specialty product at Ground; however, the same emphasis is also placed on food.
There’s no kitchen, so the best possible ingredients are sourced and a unique spin on classic sandwiches are made fresh on site daily. Their Reuben toastie is extremely popular, and their ham and cheese croissant is made with a homemade Kasundi relish, which is a Bengali variety of mustard sauce, aromatically spiced and an amazing savoury condiment.
Much of the food served at Ground is baked by Sam’s mother, Christine. Her cheese scones and savoury feta muffins sell out daily, as does her banana bread, while her chilli sausage rolls are arguably among the best in Auckland – and best enjoyed with a side of Kasundi. Christine doesn’t cut corners with her approach to baking, the tasty, wholesome food promises to leave you very satisfied.
