Tips & Tricks: E-mail Programs

There are three main ways to get your email: online mail such as Spark’s mail website, or the website mail login for your internet provider, or offline mail.

Offline mail is mail downloaded into a program like Windows Live Mail, Windows Mail, Thunderbird, Opera and several more free programs. The advantage of offline mail is you can read any email you have downloaded even if you have lost your internet connection. Paid for programs like Outlook can be expensive and not worth it for a casual or home user.

If you are a dedicated off line email user and have been using Microsoft’s Windows Live Mail, be prepared that it will not install again if you experience problems with it. Microsoft has removed the download file and it is unavailable.

You can still use other free options like Thunderbird, and a few others, or opt for online mail like Gmail. But if you are with Spark and dislike their new online mail site then I have a solution for you. I have a program that looks like and works like Windows Live Mail. It is a free program so you don’t have to buy it.

You can still buy MS Outlook but if you are a home user then it is unnecessary to pay for it. MS does have a free online version of Outlook but it is very slow. Call me if you would like to try this new alternative.
