Established Artists and Māpura Artists combine forces for Art Auction!

Welcome to the 2017 Māpura Studios Charity Art Auction! Our kaupapa is inclusion and diversity with Māpura artists exhibiting alongside established artists, forming an incredible range of artwork: in price, medium, scale and content. Very exciting.

Jacqueline Fahey, Fred Graham, Raewyn Atkinson, Stephen Bradbourne, Elizabeth Thomson and Virginia King are among the acclaimed artists contributing work alongside Māpura artists including Matthew Allerby, Yung Chen and Lynette Loye.

The auction is on this Monday 22nd May at Pah Homestead, TSB Bank Wallace Arts Centre, with auctioneer Charles Ninow of Bowerbank Ninow and MC Scott Stevenson. This will be another fabulous evening at Pah Homestead. Last year was so full we have organised a preview at Pah for 1pm on the day so the work may be viewed with ease from that time on. And please join us for the evening at 6pm for wine and conversation before the live auction at 7pm.

“I’m very happy to support the Māpura Studios’ artist programme in this way, and hope people get behind the fundraising auction.” says Virginia King. Māpura Studios is an inclusive creative space working with a wide range of artists from all over the Greater Auckland area, offering innovative and unique art and art therapy programmes for people with diverse and often complex needs and disabilities, as well as people from the wider community.

We are passionate about what we do and believe that creativity changes lives.

Māpura Studios receives no direct government funding. Only through fundraising can it deliver these art programmes for people with diverse and often complex disabilities.

Māpura Studios also runs a dynamic exhibition calendar to share the ideas and artwork of the Māpura artists with the wider art community. Māpura artist and auction contributor Yung Chen: “Being an artist gives me an identity. I tell people what I can do.  Anyone, anywhere in the world can see what I can do.”

The 2017 Māpura Art Auction will raise funds for the continuing, important work of Māpura Studios’ art and art therapy programmes. The auction is supported by the Rotary Clubs of Mt Eden and Epsom.

The silent auction is online and absentee bids can be made for the Live Auction, so all can participate.
